As probably most of you are aware, the morons at MoveOn.org released a full page ad this morning in the NY Times (where else?). In it, they implied that Gen. Petraeus is nothing more than a political hack.
It burns my butt whenever these juvenile delinquents decide they can say anything they want about anyone without regard to the facts.
I have copied below the letter that I sent to both my Senators and my Representative. It included a copy of the ad, but I don’t know if that went through (I tried to copy it here, but no luck) .
I thought it only appropriate that we escalate the fight. We need to let these politicians know that we watch who donates to their campaigns and we are not pleased that Moron.org thinks they’ve bought our Congress. Please join me in letting our ‘electeds’ know that we don’t appreciate when anyone slurs or slanders our troops, including their Commanding General, and we’d like them to disavow all Moron.org money.
You may copy freely from my letter or can pass it intact to friends and others that support our troops, if you think it will motivate them to contact their congresscritters
Remember – the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don’t let this pass unanswered.
________START LETTER________
September 10, 2007
Dear Senator Webb:
I have copied the ad placed by MoveOn.org in today’s New York Times. In my opinion, this is outrageous slander and character defamation. This ad was produced and released prior to Gen. Petraeus’ testimony. MoveOn appears to imply that the General’s character, honor, and integrity, demonstrated over his 35 year career, are somehow questionable because they anticipated a favorable (to President Bush) report and felt MoveOn would be discredited in their position that the surge has failed and the war is lost.
This ad is an outrageous attack on the integrity of a man who has courageously served this country for his entire life. This man was unanimously confirmed to his current position in January and I don’t think he has demonstrated any flaws in character that deserve this type of muck-raking.
This is a political hit-piece that savages a man’s reputation without any facts. It is being used to reinforce the idea that the Petraeus/Crocker assessment is the same as the Benchmark Report required from the White House. I watched Gen. Petraeus’ testimony today and believe his statement that his testimony has been drafted by himself and has not been coordinated with the White House.
I hope you will step up and denounce this outrageous ad. Congress confirmed Gen. Petraeus’ appointment to his position and mandated he provide his assessment to Congress and his views and recommendations to the President. No public servant, in or out of uniform, should be subjected to slander for fulfilling the obligations of his position. I also hope you will return any campaign contributions from MoveOn.org that you may have received and pledge to reject all future contributions. To do otherwise will only encourage similar “political terrorism.â€
Sincerely,
