UN Chief’s new special envoy to Iraq Stephen De Mistura said the United Nations should give priority to ease dialogue between Iraq and its neighbors. De Mistura defended the outcome achieved by the UN in Iraq confirming at the same time that the United Nations will exert further efforts in the framework of the new authorization stipulated by Resolution 1770.
On the other hand, US State Department said it does not need to force diplomats to serve in Iraq after a sufficient number has volunteered to work there. US State Department Sean McCormack affirmed that there are candidates for all posts while the Department has announced earlier that it would order some diplomats to serve in Iraq as many are unwilling to work there because of persistent violence.
