64% OF ISRAELIS WANT TEMPLE REBUILT By Joel C. Rosenberg

Plus Joshua Fund helps purchase backpacks for needy Israeli children and “Crocs for Iraq.”

By Joel C. Rosenberg

(DENVER, COLORADO, July 30, 2009) — Much is going on in the epicenter this summer. Here’s a quick update:

* REBUILDING THE TEMPLE? — Both the Old and New Testaments indicate a Third Temple will be built in the last days. Cynics and skeptics abound, to be sure. But a new poll published this week finds that a stunning 64% of Israelis want to see the Jewish Temple rebuilt on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. And it is not just religious Orthodox Jews who want to see the Third Temple built soon. Remarkably, 47% of secular Israelis want this as well, reports Ynetnews.com. Only 36% of Israelis oppose the building of the Temple. [For more details and analysis on this story, please click below to my weblog.]

* EVENING OF Q&A ABOUT THE EPICENTER AND BIBLE PROPHECY — Please join me on Thursday, August 6th for an evening of Q&A on geopolitical, economic and spiritual trends in the Middle East at Greenwood Community Church, just outside of Denver. This will be the only public event involving Q&A in Colorado. Tickets are required and are $24 each. You can order them by going to www.ministryarchitecture.com. All proceeds will go to Ministry Architecture, a non-profit organization that designs and plans facilities for evangelical ministries operating in the epicenter and the developing world.

* BACKPACKS IN ISRAEL — The new school year is approaching in Israel. The Joshua Fund is investing $50,000 to help Jewish and Christian leaders in the Holy Land purchase new backpacks and school supplies for poor and needy Jewish children. The backpacks will be distributed in just a few weeks as a way of obeying Jesus’ command to “love your neighbors.” I’ll report more on this project then.

* “CROCS FOR IRAQ” — The Joshua Fund is investing $12,000 to ship a container of little sandals known as “Crocs” to Iraq. They will be distributed to poor and needy Muslim children by Iraqi Christians who also want to find ways to love their neighbors.”

* ISRAEL TOUR DEADLINE — September 1st is the deadline to sign up for The Joshua Fund’s “prayer and vision trip” to Israel. Please note that we are not currently planning a major tour like this next year given the possibility that Iran and Israel could be at war next year. So please prayerfully consider joining this November 5-17. We have a few more spaces left, and by God’s grace the price has come down $300 per person. It is now $3,900 per person, including airfare, hotel, and most meals. I will be teaching about the life of Jesus, End Times Bible prophecies, the geopolitics of the epicenter, and the work of The Joshua Fund. I’ll also be doing Q&A sessions with tour participants to answer the questions most on your heart. We’ll also have a Joshua Fund project day to bless the poor and needy, and end with a two-day Jerusalem Prayer Summit to pray for peace while we prepare for war. Please go to www.joshuafund.net to learn more and sign up before the tour is full.

* SPECIAL 9/11 WEBCAST — More than 175 congregations have now signed up to show the “Inside The Revolution National Town Hall Webcast” on Friday night, September 11th, from 7pm to 9pm eastern. Lt. General (ret.) Jerry Boykin will join me, and Janet Parshall, the nationally syndicated Christian talk show host, will moderate the event. We will discuss “the threat of Radical Islam and the Church’s response.” For more information on the event, the webcast, and the INSIDE THE REVOLUTION documentary film that will be released that day, please visit my weblog or go to www.insidetherevolution.org.

SIX MONTHS UNTIL IRAN CAN TEST A NUCLEAR WEAPON? Joshua Fund won’t be leading a large tour to Israel in 2010 as we prepare for a coming war.

Analysts inside German intelligence believe Iran could be ready to test a nuclear weapon in “six months.” Other European diplomats are coming to believe this as well, according to published reports (links on my weblog).

As we have reported earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government is preparing for the undesirable possibility that a preemptive war may be essential.

Reuters is reporting that “the top U.S. military officer warned…that time is running out for dialogue with Tehran to avoid either a nuclear-armed Iran or a possible military strike against the Islamic Republic. Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, said it is critical for diplomatic efforts to reach a solution before Iran develops a nuclear weapon or faces an Israeli or U.S. strike to turn back its nuclear program.”

The Joshua Fund is concerned that the prospect of war sometime in 2010 or 2011 increasingly likely.

For these reason, we are not planning a large “prayer & vision trip” to Israel in 2010. Rather, we would love to have you join us this November for a prayer tour of Israel so we can really pray together for the peace of Jerusalem. We’ll also be able to share with you in more detail the preparations we are making in case a major war in the region does break out in the not-too-distant future. It is critical that we are able to provide food, clothing, medical supplies and other humanitarian aid for those who are struggling with poverty today, as well as those who will be affected by the coming war. It’s also critical that The Joshua Fund can educate and mobilize Christians around the world to “learn, pray, give and go” to the work the Lord is doing in the epicenter.

As always, we will do our best to keep you up-to-date on the kinds of projects we are doing, and brief you on how those projects are proceeding. We will also let you know about the kinds of projects we are developing for the future. In no way do we want to pressure anyone to give financially. We fully believe the Lord will provide for the needs of the people we seek to serve. But if you or others wish to help, we gratefully welcome your support, and all financial gifts are tax-deductible.

If you would like to make a contribution to the on-going work of The Joshua Fund please make your check payable to “The Joshua Fund” and send to:

Thanks so much and may the Lord richly bless you and your family as you bless Israel and her neighbors in the name of Jesus — especially at critical moment in history of the epicenter.
