Like you, our hearts are breaking as we see the horrendous suffering in Haiti.
Children are screaming in pain from untreated cuts and broken limbs. Gangrene is rampant. Thousands are suffering from untreated deadly infections.
Children are dying needlessly and we must act immediately to send medical supplies and doctors to save lives in Haiti.
As I write:
- Our Operation Smile medical teams and supplies are flying to Haiti. On board are 20 highly skilled surgeons, anesthesiologists, critical care nurses and other medical professionals — all experts in setting up surgical sites in challenging conditions.
- We are flying in several tons of supplies, sutures, syringes, gloves, gowns, operating tables — everything to set up and equip operating rooms and perform safe surgeries on suffering earthquake victims.
- Our teams will be traveling by convoy to reach a field hospital where thousands have been waiting in anguish for help.
